Scott tells me on a daily basis how much he misses his aunts, so we had a slumber party at Brooke's house Friday night. She only lives a little over an hour away, but we don't get to see her as much as we would like to. She was kind enough to babysit these two happy kids for us while we went to dinner and a movie.

Aunt Brooke and Chris sent Scott home with this really cool car mat. Here's Scott lying next to the temple. There's a church, a missionary training center, and my favorite part is the farm with the crops. (compare this picture with the one above....this kid has some serious mood swings!)

Hurray for any toy that encourages these two to play together! Actually I think that time has finally come. Not that they don't fight now and then, but Scott has finally realized how much fun it is to have someone to play with always.

Here's Hailey anxiously awaiting her chocolate chip cookie. I love how you can see her expression on her face in the reflection.Our nice weather lasted about 3 days, and then we woke up to snow on the ground again this morning....so depressing!

Anyway while the weather was nice we took the opportunity to do some yard work. We are going to do sprinklers and grass this spring, so we have a ton of work ahead of us!

I just don't understand how we can go from hats and sunscreen to snow scrapers and coats in just a matter of days! Crazy! But I still think I live in the most beautiful place on earth!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

For dinner tonight I made green hamburger buns for our sloppy joes. I didn't have any regular green, so they ended up being neon green. Check my cooking blog for the hamburger bun recipe (you obviously don't have to make them green). Scott thought it was the coolest thing in the entire world!

My cousin Ashley got married in the St. George temple on Saturday. She looked so beautiful and her groom couldn't stop smiling. Oh how I wish I had a few pictures to share, but my camera was misbehaving! The ceremony was beautiful and the spirit was so strong. Congrats JB and Ashley!

Kevin actually took Friday off, so we left on Thursday and took the scenic route there to spend a few days in Kanab where Kevin's grandma lives (his dad's mom)On the way there Kevin showed me the cliffs he would rappel off and the three lakes they use to play in. Since Kevin has lived all around the country and in Germany growing up I have never really seen any places or met any people from his childhood, so it was so awesome to see
This is Kevin's grandma's house. It has a historic sign out front because it was built the same year his grandma was born- 1917!

Scott usually takes a while to warm up to people, but he started chatting it up with "Grandma Gladys" right away and made himself right at home

Kevin asked her if she still gets up and walks outside and she said she didn't do that anymore, but she's up and getting around and doesn't have a sore bone or pain

Kevin's grandparents use to own a bakery where this t-shirt shop is now. His grandpa even did the petrified wood out front (they look like stones-so cool)

This old bible has been handed down to Kevin's grandma. After diligently searching Kevin finally found the copyright date to be 1881. Even crazier than that is that inside it there are birth and death pages that his ancestors filled out. Soooooo neat! Scott was sooo sad to leave Grandma Gladys!

My favorite part was getting out all the photo albums after the kids went to bed each night. Kevin only has a handful of pictures as a kid, and I had so much fun looking at some of his baby pictures. His grandma has been so amazing at record keeping, and even has a journal of every 15 minutes when she visited Kevin's family in Germany. She kept a notebook and wrote down everything, even down to the store Kevin bought a pair of binoculars in!

It was definitely a trip to remember, and worth every bit of screaming and whining and complaining from the kids to get there!

After 2 weeks of riding our bikes outside in the sun, this is what happened! So depressing! The square on the right is the kid's picnic table. We probably got close to 2 feet of snow on Monday.

Kevin says, "get the camera ready" and tossed Hailey into the snow pile! I don't think she liked it very much. Don't let the smile on Scott's face fool you...he hates cold, snow and everything about it. He refuses to put on a snowsuit because that would mean he actually has to get in it. I can't believe this is our first snowman and we've lived here for 2 years. In all fairness I wasn't going to take a newborn outside to build a snowman last year... I know I posted the shaving cream paints last year, but we had to pull them out again. Scott wants to be a dirty boy and we're lucky if he gets one bath a week. Last night I mentioned the words "bath paints" and before I knew it he was filling up the tub himself! He played for an hour in there coloring the walls and himself. (for the paints just squirt shaving cream into a muffin tin with few drops of food coloring and mix up. Even gel shaving cream foams up when you stir it) Photo opportunity gone bad. Scott was more interested in getting his hair perfect, and Hailey wasn't having any of it today! Hailey's happy 15 month picture21 pounds 9 ounces (30 percentile) and 30 1/2 inches tall (52 pecentile)

Paint!

February marked 2 years in our home, and I can't believe that I have procrastinated that long to do this! I figured since the house was brand new and already painted cream, why make the extra work right? Well I finally decided to just jump, and went and bought red for the kitchen wall and brown for the living room wall. The kitchen turned out a lot brighter than the card, even with 3 coats, but ultimately its red-and that's what I wanted. :)

So the kitchen was about a month ago, and we did the living room yesterday There's a vaulted ceiling, so the brown went into the kitchen too. So exciting! Color adds so much personality. I'm definitely on a kick and told Kevin not to get excited just yet about being done. There will be more and Scott's already putting in requests for his. That might be a while though since he'll probably get kicked down to the basement when baby #3 comes (no, that is definitely not an announcement!)

This last weekend my sister Brooke had a soccer tournament in Provo, and my other sister Candice had the great idea for us all to get together and have a girl weekend-kid free!

Friday night Brooke and I picked up my mom and Candice (Bre was on her honeymoon for 2 weeks, so I have no pity for her missing out) from the airport and went to late dinner and a movie. Tepanyaki Japanese Steakhouse was amazing, and we had quite the comedian for a chef. Brooke was the only one at our table who could catch the shrimp in her mouth from the chef's spatula- show off!

Saturday we slept in, went out to breakfast, went shopping, watched all of Brooke's 3 games, got dessert and crashed.

Sunday before we had to take my mom and sister back to the airport we spent the morning in Park City eating great food and shopping at the infamous outlet shops. It was so much fun!

The weird thing about this picture (besides that we are all squinting from the sun) is that there was a strange man video taping us while we were taking this shot. Very weird!

Kevin was able to keep the kids very entertained while I was gone. I told him today that the kids are detoxing and that a weekend with dad is worse than a weekend with grandma. Tons of candy, the fun park, candy, Wendy's happy meals, bowling, candy, movies, candy, pizza, and lots of playing.

I had to post this picture to show the expression on Hailey's face. I was hiding behind the dresser and she was coming in to find me. Hide-and-seek is a very popular game at our house.Scott was so cute this last week because he was in a helping mood. Hailey fell off her little chair and he helped her up saying, "It's okay Hailey, you just fell off your stool. You're okay now because I helped you up." I said "Thanks Scott! That was so sweet of you" and do you know what he said back to me? "Anything you need me to do for you mom, I'm happy to do it." Don't worry- I held him to it for the rest of the week!
