Las Vegas Trip

So we are just here in Las Vegas enjoying the beautiful weather! I swear my mom didn't believe me when I told her all about Scott's negative 2 year old attitude until she witnessed it for herself. We've just been hanging out and playing. Scott has been following grandpa all over the place of course. Tomorrow Scott gets to go to Candice's classroom and observe worms. They are going to measure them and everything- he's going to love it!

Scott has been loving the outdoors since he's been stuck inside for months! He ran right out to the sanbox grandpa built him last time we were here!
I also got to see my beautiful sister Bre since she came up for Candice's shower. After she left Scott kept asking if we could go pick her up from the airport.
Isn't Candice the most gorgeous pregnant girl you've seen!? I can't believe that baby Mia is coming next month and can't wait to meet her. Rick and Candice are going to be great parents!

Who eats more? Me! I think this habit started when I was pregnant, then nursing and it really hasn't ever stopped.
Who said "I love you" first? I think he did if I remember right, but I definately made the first "I like you" gesture because he was completely hard to read. (So frustrating) My mom kept telling me he only liked me as a friend since I always hung out with him and the guys. Finally after he apologized for a lame monster truck show I said, "hey it's not the show, it's who you're with" That was when he knew I liked him more than just a friend and he started to be more open with me.
Who is taller? Kev by 3 inches. All the girls in my college ward were tall and said, "Kevin is so cute, but he's too short!" I loved it-Less competition and he's perfect for me.
Who sings better? Kev, and he use to sing to me all the time. I miss it.
Who is smarter? It depends on the subject. Being a mechanical engineer he can tell you how everything and anything works, how it's put together and probably what he could fix to make it work better! I've learned so much from him. (Below is my all time favorite picture-Kevin working on his International Scout)
Who does the laundry? That would be me! But he gave me a coupon for 1 week free of laundry and folding for Christmas.
Who does the dishes? That would be me too, but he's busy with the basement.
Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? He does, but only when we are sleeping together which is very rare and only on every other weekend. Hopefully that will change soon. I miss him.
Who pays the bills? I do, but he brings in the money to pay them! :)
Who mows the lawn? Well we don't have a lawn yet, but I told Kev I'm going to mow every now and then. I actually enjoy that. I love washing cars too.
Who cooks dinner? Me. And if he does it's usually take out or spaghetti! But he also gave me a coupon for him cooking a whole week. What a sweetie! Ask who changes the oil, takes out the trash and is finishing our basement!
Who drives when you are together? He does.
Who is more stubborn? I joke about Scott getting his stubborness from him, but I know exactly where it came from! :)
Who is the first to admit when they're wrong? He is. Read the above question.
Whose parents do you see the most? Mine, but that's because they come visit us a lot more. My baby sister plays soccer for a college close by, and my kids are the only grandbabies so far.
Who kissed who first? I think he did and it honestly was the best kiss I've ever had. Like in the movies. For those of you who went to Ricks College you know where the Beaver Dick Park is.... out on the dock at night with the stars. I don't think anyone can beat that!
Who proposed? He did and I didn't even see it coming. I was shocked. He kept looking at me waiting for my answer, but I was too excited to talk. Pretty funny. For those who want to know the romantic long version, ask me. It involves a guitar and that handsome voice of his.
Who has more siblings? He does. I have 3 sisters and he has 3 brothers and 1 sister.
(What did I learn from all this....Even though I do all the household chores, I sure have one sweet hubby! :)

Whirlwind Week

I love my life- really I do. It's just weeks like these where I am about to go crazy! Scott has been the most defiant stubborn kid this week. (I know, it's only Wednesday night) Everything is "No" or "na uh" or "I don't want to" and I mean EVERYTHING even if it's something fun like going to storytime or a drink of juice. On Monday morning I got woken up at 5:45 a.m. by him and when I told him to go back to bed, he went and got his "helper" stool in the kitchen and came and flipped on my lights. And that was just the beginning! He refuses to take naps or go to bed and it's about an hour of bringing him back to his bed and him running back out again laughing. And he's obsessed with the fridge now and keeps taking everything out and yes, even dumping the soy sauce all over my wood floors. What am I going to do with this kid? He's usually a really good kid so I hope this isn't the beginning of the "terrible twos." This all ontop of Hailey having colic STILL. The only good news is that I'm going out of town on Friday, the bad news is that I'm taking the kids with me. Just kidding. Like I said before, I really do love my life, but it's like I was telling my mom over the phone, you never get to take a break from being a mom. You can go out of town, but it's more like a change of scenery than a "break." Moms work full time 24/7. Now to lift my mood- here's a few cute pics of the fun times we have had amongst the bad.

I can't remember when exactly this happened, but Scott found my makeup and decided to try some on. It wouldn't have been that bad if he didn't use the purple all over my carpet in the living room! (If you look closely you can see it all over his legs too)

I actually allowed this one- I let him loose with all my bracelets and necklaces and this is what he came up with. My favorite is when he put them up his leg. Funny kid.

Valentine's Week

My Little Valentine! Hailey is getting so cute. Her personality is really changing and other than her night evening spells of colic, she is really pleasent during the day. She has a really happy disposition. She laughs at almost anything. It's adorable!

Scott's heart pizza for Valentine's dinner without cheese. I bought big canadian bacon pieces and then Scott got to use cookie cutters to make shapes out of it. I figured it would be more fun and maybe he'd eat more of it!

Here's the cake I made for Kevin (I'll be honest I only did it after my mom told me she made my dad one.) I know it should be a heart, but I'm just not that creative. Also for those who are like Scott with lots of allergies, I put the frosting recipe I use at the end of the post.

It was finally warm enough for Scott to use his wagon my dad got him for Christmas. He was thrilled! Now every day he begs for another wagon ride. Fun Fun!

Scott wants 2 baths a day. Maybe it's because he's bored from staying inside all the time. So here's a fun idea: Fill up muffin tin holes with shaving cream (I used the gel kind and it still foamed up after stirring) and drop different food colors in and stir it up. Scott loves "painting" all over the walls. I guess if you wanted them to last longer, let them paint without water in the tub, then take a bath after. I like it in the tub because the muffin tin floats.

Funny/sweet things Scott has said this week:

"I want to keep you mom"

While standing on his bed frame: "This is very dangerous, you better be careful"

Explaining his own potty training success he walks around saying "I'm a super duper pooper!"

Everytime you say, "Scott your silly" or "Scott your handsome" he will say "No! I'm a big boy!"

Today he was trying to put his milk in the 'spot free liquid' dispenser and was saying, "I'm checking the oil. I have to put oil in it."

Dairy Free Frosting:

Beat together:
1/2 cup dairy free margarine

1/2 cup shortening
Add and beat 3 minutes:

3 1/2 cups powdered sugar

Add and beat 5-7 more minutes:
1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla

1/4 cup soy milk (I use regular, not vanilla)

Lack of Sleep

Okay so now that I finally got Hailey sleeping from 10:30-3 am (I know it's only 4 1/2 hours, but I'll take it!) Scott starts waking up! Friday night Kevin and I woke up at 1:30 am to a two year old bouncing around in our bed. I immediately took him back to his bed and thought it was a done deal. So last night Scott came crawling into my bed at 12:30 saying he wanted to "cuddle with mom". As tempting and cute as that sounds I still brought him back to his room, only to repeat the process 13 more times. No, I'm not even exaggerating and most of you who know Kevin's schedule know I was doing this by myself. Sometimes he'd climb into my bed, other times he was bouncing around on the rocking chair in Hailey's room. I thought to myself at about 3:20 a.m. how much easier it would have been to just have let him come in and sleep in my bed the first time! It finally came to an end @ 4:55 this morning when I locked both Hailey's and my own room! Someone please tell me I am doing the right thing by loosing all of my sleep just to put him back into his own bed. And PLEASE tell me it is a phase that will quickly fade!

I know I just posted Thursday, but look at this smile! I couldn't resist!

Okay, you know it's bad when your own kid asks you for his haircut! I guess I've been a little busy lately, and besides, grandma wanted him to "grow it out." The other day he said, "cut my hair...with clippers" You can see the finished product in the next picture.

We decided to go to the indoor "Fun Park" on Saturday because with this poor weather, Scott usually only gets out on Tuesdays for storytime. This was Scott's first time bowling and he thought it was pretty cool. He had to sit down and roll the ball between his legs. We had a blast and Scott got a better score then me but hey-I'm the one who helped him roll a strike!

I can't wait to see how much this cute girl weighs on Thursday! She has really filled out and it's so cute. You can't see the shoes that great, but grammy bought them and they are little sneakers with pink ribbons...so cute!

I have to give my sister Brooke a huge thanks for babysitting on Friday so that we could go out for our Anniversary. While she was here Scott was telling her how the candle warmer worked. (You have to know, I've only used this candle warmer once and it just sits in a drawer) With that said, Scott got it out and said, "plug it in, light turns on, gets warm, put candle on it and it smells good!" I was shocked! This kid can tell you how anything works, it's amazing! I think he might grow up to be his dad!

5 Years and Counting!

It was 5 years ago today that I married my best friend! I thought I was in love with him then, but I had no idea how much our love would grow over the years. Marriage is an act of blind faith... you hope that you know the person well enough and that things will work out, but you really have to just jump in with both feet. I'm so glad that I did jump in with both feet-and feel so blessed to have such an amazing man in my life. He is an amazing husband and father and I adore him! Happy Anniversary Sweetie!
