Arianna is 9!
Her birthday landed on a Saturday this year and I didn't have to talk her into a party since she is all about friends and super social. However when I asked what the theme would be she wanted a sloth party! Huh? Ari is obsessed with animals and loves sloths. Luckily some deep searches on the internet turned out some free printables to make it happen for her :)
The morning started with Ari getting to open a present from her Daddy- what a surprise!!
Then it was time for the party! They started out with a quick game of animal dance (jump like a frog, crawl like a crab) to music, and then a zoo bingo game the girls made. They set up our basement like a zoo with all their stuffies. They had a water animals section, reptiles, farm animal section, birds etc. The bingo sheet had a clue like "animal with scales" "animal that camouflages" and then they try and be the first team to get them all. This would have been fun to go to an actual zoo but not here in winter land!
Then the favorite activity- making habitats for their little sloths.
They LOVED this and they turned out darling.
Then it was pizza and cupcake time
Finished with a cute game called sloth in a hurry which is basically an ampted up version of charades
And presents! That third grade group in general is just a sweet group of kids. Something great happened that year. She has the cutest little friends and it was a fun day celebrating with them!
That evening we did our traditional dinner and presents with the family. The meal she chose which is her favorite was salmon and rice pilaf :) And a yummy rich dark chocolate cake

Ari is such a delight. She has the best teacher this year who absolutely adores her to pieces. I think they have the same personality and so she really appreciates all the uniqueness Ari has to offer. Ari is the top reader in her class (end of 6th grade level and has read 45 books this year and counting) and an excellent writer. She also excels at math and numbers. She just gets numbers. The teacher said that's super rare to be good at both like that. She was also telling me how Ari is the only one who gets her jokes, and if you have heard Ari laugh it's pretty epic. It's just a burst of joyful noise let me tell you. So she will just burst out laughing and the teacher will say, "Did anyone get that besides Ari?" so funny. I agree whole heartily that Ari is a very talented young lady with a lot of gifts to give. She lives outside even in the dead of winter, loves playing with friends, and has a special love of animals and the need to protect them. For now she says she's going to be a zookeeper when she grows up.
