We have been going on lots of bug hunts lately, but we aren't quick enough for most of the cool bugs. Rollie pollies are still fun though- or at least Hailey thinks so

This poor rollie pollie on the other hand...I don't think he was too thrilled. Hailey held him in her hand (tightly) for a long long time until I had to pry her fingers apart. He didn't live through her death grip, and she cried and cried when she had to give him up

Don't worry, Scott totally understands that bugs are a lot happier in their natural habitat and not in our house!

Also the little birds hatched and it wasn't long before they learned to fly, so we didn't get them for very long

I was talking to Kevin sitting on Scott's little chair and he brought over his and put his arm around me. He had his arm around me for probably 15 minutes while we were talking and it was so adorable. I told Kevin to take a picture, so of course Hailey jumped in too.
We have been working on our sprinkler system again all weekend. Scott was right there beside us with his shovel helping. I said, "Scott why don't you get out your trucks and play" and he said, "No- I want to work with you because you are my best friend"

(Oh don't worry...he went right back to hitting and back talking today- but it was cute while it lasted :)

This is what we've been doing all weekend- looks like fun right? We paid to have all our trenches dug out, and then it rained for like a week straight, so now we pretty much have to do it over again because they all sluffed in. Oh and don't let the picture of just Kevin fool you...I have bruises up and down my legs from walking in trenches all day. I told Kevin he is lucky my dad taught me how to work, because I haven't seen any of the other wives out with their husbands putting sprinklers in. Just last night my sister Candice and I were talking about how we would go to my dad's job sites every Saturday and clean up. The funny part is that we had a blast and didn't even get paid! He told us we could keep anything we found and to us that was gold. Oh and the occasional trip to McDonald's afterwards.

After a long day digging I told Kevin there has to be a perk to him being the young mens secretary. Well come to find out that their plans for this weeks mutual was cancelled, so now our lawn has turned into a service project. Hallelujah!

And with all the warm weather, we've been eating lots of popsicles. I found these popsicle molds at Walmart and they have a little straw to suck up all the melted popsicle! You can use any smoothie or drink mix to make popsicles. This one is 1 1/4 cups orange juice, 4 peaches and 2 Tablespoons powdered sugar. You mix it up in the blender and it makes about 8 popsicles. We put little pieces of canned fruit in for fun too. Scott likes these better than otter pops and they actually have some vitamins and aren't straight sugar!

While riding over to the park, Scott insisted on taking the newspaper with him. Maybe I should get him started on a paper route and he could make us some money! haha Ah these kids are growing up way too fast!
I swear Scott is going through a growth spurt. After eating a big dinner before swim lessons, he usually comes home and says he wants to eat a second dinner.

And Hailey will always look so small to me because she's our baby, but she is looking a lot more like a toddler lately. I can't believe she'll be 18 months old next month!

Hailey has always been a climber. A month ago I left her in the living room, went out to check on Scott outside, came into the kitchen and she was sitting up in her highchair eating crackers. I literally had a heart attack! She moved the kitchen chairs over to use to climb up because there was a box of crackers on the counter top. So in swim lessons, Hailey has been learning how to pull herself up out of the pool. I was excited about it until she started using her new skill to get to everything else, like lotion!

So while Hailey is doing that, Scott has figured out, yet again, how to get into the closets with the child proof locks. You might be wondering why we still child proof the doors when he is 3 1/2 years old, and the answer to that question is because this kid LOVES medicine and so we have to keep them far far away. We bought the normal two piece child proof door knobs, but when Scott was like 2 years old he found out that when he hung on them long enough they would break. So then Kevin put baby powder on the inside to make them slippery, and taped around the outside so they are impossible to break. This system has been working now for probably a year. That is until I woke up yesterday to Scott hammering. I went into his room and he said (very proud and excited by the way) "Look mom! I finally figured it out!" He got one of his cups and put it on the door knob and then tapped it on tight with his plastic toy. I said, "What made you decide to do that?" and he said, "Well I knew the cup was circled and so was the door!" He continued to go around showing me how it works for all the doors: the pantry (snacks), our bedroom (if you want a refresher on why we lock our room, click here), and all the others. Oh boy- now what!?

Kevin and I dropped our kids off at my sister Brooke and her husband Chris's house for the weekend while we went to my best friend's wedding in Las Vegas. It was a short trip, but I'm sure Chris and Brooke were thankful for that! :)

Kristin is so lucky to marry her best friend of 9 years! I am so happy for her!

She was such a beautiful bride!

All the bridesmaids got to get our hair done with Kristin, and then we went back to her place to help her get ready. Then an excursion limo picked us up- it was so much fun!

Here I am giving my maid of honor toast to Kristin and Robert. What words can you say to someone who has been your best friend for 17 years!? I totally messed it up- but you know I love you Kristin! :)

Thanks so much for watching the kids Brooke and Chris! The night we got home (which was on Mother's Day remind you) Scott had a huge melt down crying about how he wants to go back to Brooke's house. He said, "Because I love her SOOOOO MUCH!" I said, "Don't you love mom and dad too?" And he said, "no".

It's okay though because he drew me a card and picked flowers for me, so I won't hold a grudge :)

Scott was the "spot light" today in primary. I was busy, so the primary secretary asked Scott the questions and had him answer. I ran into primary to hear what his answers were...

Busy Week!

The kids started swimming lessons this week! Scott needs them more then Hailey does. He likes to sit on steps and play, but screams if you take him into the deep water or splash in his face. Hailey on the other hand is a little fish-always has been!

After just two lessons Scott isn't using the "death grip" on his teacher anymore, and he even dunked his head under the water without complaint!

Hailey after swimming lessons. She has mastered kicking, can almost climb out of the pool from the side, and she jumps into the pool to me. Her biggest problem is that she has her mouth open the entire time. Most of the kids close their mouths if you blow in their face and then you can dunk them. She just (mouth open) smiles and laughs at you the whole time while you blow in her face.

We have a bird's nest under our deck! We found it a few weeks ago, but after the cat fights on our deck and the "mommy stalking" we knew there were eggs. (Kevin is so smart to use a mirror to look inside!)

The nest is on the far right beam, and if you look really closely you can see the mama bird in the middle of our neighbors shed. She sits there all day long.

That sums up the busy fun, but we also have a lot of busy work to do with our yard!

We dug trenches today and Scott has already been yelled at once for pushing the dirt back into the holes.

I am the first to admit that I'm a little OCD, especially when it comes to cleaning. Well I'm afraid Scott has inherited it as well. Last night Scott and I were cleaning up his room. He has 2 containers for his blocks and we had already filled up one. He neatly stacked all of these blocks into this second container (I just had to take a picture to demonstrate) and was done, or so I thought until he screamed and pointed that the last row was missing two blocks. I took one of the blocks out of the other container and handed it to him and he says, "No! It has to be this kind!" (notice how the right column are smaller blocks) Oh boy! I guess I know now why he takes soooo long to clean things up! I usually end up pitching in because I don't want it to take all day. When I told Kevin he just shook his head, but he knows as good as I do that if it was me I would have color coded them :)It has been overcast for a few days and Scott said to me today that the sun LOVES playing hide and seek. I thought that was cute!
